Does this mean we can expect to encounter legal issues w/ OSM when we opt to auction off Joomla©Sucks.com on Ebay? If so, one can only assume real trouble will ensue once we auction off Joomla©CertifiablySucks, since OSM, enlisting such logic, would be the only authorized entity to provide approval of such an enterprising effort.

The domain name scenario is completely unenforceable, as in my industry, where we had Off-Road Magazine legally insist they were entitled to our domain name, Off-Road.com. Despite the pouting and vehement complaints, the arrogant behemoth behind Off-Road Magazine as well as its editor was not so entitled to overrun the foresight of entrepreneurs. While Joomla is not as generic a name as off-road, the legal as well as the community-derived ethical principle remains and therefore fails to support such rules that OSM whimsically fabricates on behalf of Joomla.

I’ve perceived many of the “RULES” concocted on behalf of Joomla to be blatantly amateurish in that they were idealistically impossible to enforce. Such “RULES” have often been void of much value in community encouragement (policing) and have often been shewed unto the masses in an arrogantly astute manner that lacks both logic and clarity in whatever favorable objective they were fashioned from.

As seen in this situation as well as a few others, interpretation of such rules lacks foresight and consistency. Enforcement appears arbitrary.

My statements herein no way undermines my love for Joomla or any efforts gifted from the official or the unofficial contributors of the community. I offer it up as others here have – to benefit the overall direction of our community.
